Rot
03:12
|
|||
The night shifted,
Time was dappled by seconds.
He awoke to it all stopping.
The air was still and silent.
The door worked,
But the hinges made no sound.
No creaks in the floor,
No breath in his lungs.
It was bright outside,
But he felt no heat.
The walk is harrowing.
All things once accepted,
look dead without motion.
How strange: when all is naked, rot shows up.

The Leaving
05:01
|
|||
In the eerie he was searching
Knowing not what fueled his veins
Finding objects lying scattered
Twisted steel and giant lenses
When he felt the pile was ready
He arranged it to its form
Stuffed mementos in its creases
Sat behind its beaten wheel
With ignition came no fury
Only undefined propulsion
Left the birthplace of his species
Where they met their tidy end
Earth was like a lump of longing
As it faded in the mirror

Pieces of the planet
02:20
|
|||
pieces of the planet hanging
catching light from stars exploded
ship was gleaming in its passing
he was sleeping at the helm
space was yawning, deathly, silent
matter frozen, crystal, dormant
all the stillness crept in on him
startled him from weary sleep
He had seen so many planets
they were stretching in his memory
losing all their definition
blurring like his sense of self
He subsisted on the lonely
chronocling on folds of paper
all the galaxies he passed through
drawing them in perfect detail
He could not forsee an ending
to this soundless timeless ticking
pushing through uncaring atoms
wasnt sure that he'd begun

The Descent
06:41
|
|||
The descent was easy
the atmosphere and stratosphere broke
like a gossamer wing
not meant to be touched
the suns stared at his ship
so that it blushed red and gold
the surface rushed to meet him
as its curving slowly subtled
weary of the stretching places
he was sure this was his last
parchment now filled up the cabin
scrawls of decades stacked and folded
he had weary hands and head
eyes so full of sights and wonders
they no longer saw in single
he touched down in soft black sand
on the shore of tearing waters
lay upon the ground and smelled it
taking in its stable substance
staring at the vast above
he shed layers of dust and travel
lived again his ambling journey
from the day he woke to stopping
he unravelled piece by piece
curled away in misty vapors
on the sands a ship sat gleaming
the air was still and silent.
